Abstract

The research involved the preparation of several new organic compounds (Mannich bases) derived from the reaction of equimolar amounts of p-chlorobenzaldehyde with benzimidazole and a number of the following primary amines )aniline, 4-hydroxyaniline, 4-chloroaniline, 4-methoxyaniline, 4-methylaniline, 4-aminopyridine, 3-acetylaniline, 2-aminothiazole, N-(4-amino phenyl)acetamide and 2-methyl-4-amino pyridine) Ethanol was used as the solvent, and the synthesized compounds were proved by infrared (IR) spectroscopy and (NMR) spectroscopy for proton and carbon. Elemental analysis was also performed using an elemental analyzer (EA Euro vector 3000), and the finishing point of the reaction was monitored and verified by thin-layer chromatography (TLC).
